Your skin, brows and lashes ready for your wedding

What to plan when, so you have nothing to worry about on the day.

In brief

  • Start on your skin three to six months in advance. A course of treatments needs time, and in the last week you want things to be calm.
  • Book your brows and lashes for a week or two before the day, so they have settled but still look fresh.
  • In the last week, stick to your usual routine. Schedule a peel or a new product for earlier on.
  • After a lash lift you don't need mascara, so there is nothing to run if you get emotional.

The countdown plan from six months to the day.

This order works best in practice. If you have less time, start at the step that fits your date and skip the rest.

  1. 6 months

    Have your skin looked at

Book a skin analysis. Then you know where you stand, and there is enough time for a course of treatments if you want to change something, such as blemishes, pigmentation or dull skin. Now is also the time to get your routine at home in order.

  2. 3 to 5 months

    The course of treatments

A series of peels or microneedling, with three to four weeks in between. That way the result is there well before the day, and there is time to adjust if your skin doesn't react as expected.

  3. 6 weeks

Trial run for brows and lashes

If you've never had a brow lamination or a lash lift, have a trial run now. You will see how it looks and know whether you tolerate it well, long before it matters.

  4. 2 weeks

Brows, lashes and a last bit of care

Now is the time for the real appointment for your brows and lashes. On the day they will have settled enough to look natural and still be fresh enough to look sharp in the photos. With a nourishing facial as well, your skin gets one more round of extra care.

  5. The last week

    Just your usual routine

Stick to your usual routine, get enough sleep and drink water. Save a peel, a new product or a mask you've never used for after the wedding. A reaction this week is the last thing you want.

  6. The day itself

    Enjoy it

Your skin is prepared and your brows and lashes are in place. Your make-up goes on skin that is ready for it, and that shows all day.

Four things we see happen too often.

  • A peel in the last week

It seems like a good idea for fresh skin, but skin that has just been peeled can be red or flake slightly. Make-up doesn't sit well on that. Have your last peel at least two weeks before the day.

  • Starting on your skin too late

A course of treatments needs months to make a real difference. If you start three weeks beforehand, you can still polish up the glow. For pigmentation or blemishes, that is not enough time.

  • Brows the day before

After shaping or tinting, the skin around your brows is sometimes still red for a while. A week or two beforehand is safer, and your brows will also look more natural by then.

  • Trying something new

A new serum, a new foundation or a mask from the chemist: try it well before the last weeks. Otherwise you may find out just before the day that your skin reacts to it.

Coming with your mother or with your bridesmaids?

You can, and it is all the more fun together. Brows, lashes and a nourishing treatment combine well. For your nails, go to The Nailbar, which is in the same building as us.

For the treatments at Moons, you can just send us a quick WhatsApp. We will plan the times so that nobody has to wait and so that it doesn't fall on the busiest day of the week. You book nails in The Nailbar's own booking calendar.

If you know someone who is getting married, a gift voucher in the months before the wedding almost always goes down well.

Frequently asked questions about your skin before your wedding

How long before my wedding should I start on my skin?

Ideally three to six months. That leaves time for a course of four to six treatments, and you can adjust if your skin doesn't react as expected. If you have less time, we can still do something for you, especially with nourishing treatments.

When should I have a lash lift done for my wedding?

About a week or two before the day. By then your lashes will have settled nicely and still be fresh. If you've never had a lash lift, have a trial run six weeks beforehand, so you know how it looks.

Can I still have a peel just before my wedding?

Preferably not in the last two weeks. Skin that has just been peeled can be red or flake slightly, and make-up doesn't sit well on that. Have your last peel at least two weeks beforehand.

When should I have my eyebrows done for my wedding?

A week or two beforehand. After shaping, the skin can be red for a while, and after a brow lamination the hairs sit more naturally after a few days than on the first day.

Can I come with my bridesmaids?

Yes, please do. Just WhatsApp us, and we'll plan the times so that it works for everyone. If you'd like your nails done too, you can have that done at The Nailbar in the same building.
