A hydrating facial for skin that is thirsty.

The Hydra treatment is an hour for skin that is asking for moisture. We work hyaluronic acid into your skin and let a cooling hydrojelly mask sink in. The finishing care locks that moisture in. It is our most booked facial, and that makes sense: a lack of moisture can happen to any skin.

Tightness can have two causes. Dry skin produces too little sebum, the oily layer that slows down evaporation. That is a skin type. Dehydrated skin lacks water in the upper layers. That is a condition, and even oily skin can get it. The Hydra treatment replenishes that water. If your skin is truly dry, you also need a richer cream at home, because hyaluronic acid does not replace sebum.

Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in your skin. It attracts water and holds on to it, which makes your skin feel plumper and more supple. In dry air it does need a layer over it, otherwise it can actually draw moisture out of your skin. That is why we always finish with care that seals it in.

Your skin asks for it most in winter, when cold and central heating draw moisture out of it. After the summer is also a good moment, because sun, salt water, chlorine and air conditioning often leave your skin rough and dull. Dehydration lines also soften as soon as there is water in your skin again.

How the hour in the chair goes.

Beforehand we look at how your skin is doing that day, and we adjust the steps to that.

  1. Cleansing and exfoliating

First make-up and the day's layer come off. Then we cleanse more deeply and an exfoliation removes the dead skin cells. Where needed we also remove impurities.

  2. Hyaluronic acid and serum

Then we work hyaluronic acid into your skin, together with a serum. After the exfoliation it absorbs well, and your skin feels more supple straight away.

  3. The cooling mask

Then a cooling hydrojelly mask with hyaluronic acid goes on. It feels fresh and stays on for a while. Feel free to doze off here.

  4. Massage and finish

We massage your face briefly and finish with care that holds the moisture in, plus protection if you are heading outside. We tell you what we saw and what you can do at home.

Hydra treatment next to what looks similar.

What you notice and how long it lasts.

The first effect you feel straight away. It becomes lasting when you play your part at home.

  1. Straight after your appointment

    Plumper and less tight

Your skin feels plumper and softer. You may still be a little pink from the massage, and that usually settles within an hour or so.

  2. The first week

The plump feeling stays a while

Usually you notice it for a few days to well over a week, depending on how your skin was beforehand.

  3. After 4 to 6 weeks

    Your skin holds moisture better

With a real lack of moisture we schedule the first few visits every three to four weeks. After two or three treatments and with an adjusted routine, your skin feels tight less quickly after washing.

  4. After that

    Maintenance

Once every four to six weeks is then enough. In winter your skin needs it more often than in summer.

When it suits you and when we talk it through first.

A good idea if

  • Your skin feels tight after washing and asks for cream straight away.
  • Your nose is shiny, while your cheeks feel tight.
  • Your make-up flakes or settles into fine lines.
  • You want fresh skin for an occasion, without downtime.

Check with us first

  • Your skin is also red or stinging. Then the redness treatment is often a better fit.
  • You use acids or retinol at home. Stop a few days beforehand.
  • You have inflamed, painful spots. We leave those alone, and with active acne you see your GP first.
  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding. A hydrating treatment is usually fine then, and we keep it milder. See also skincare during pregnancy.

How to keep the moisture in at home.

For home we work with Yellow Rose. Which products suit you, you will hear from us.

  • Apply to damp skin

After washing, do not wait until your skin is completely dry. That way your cream holds on to the water still sitting on it.

  • Hyaluronic acid under a cream

A serum with hyaluronic acid needs a cream over it in dry indoor air. That layer keeps the moisture in your skin.

  • Lukewarm water and a mild cleanser

Hot water and a strongly foaming cleanser strip away the oils that keep moisture in. If your skin squeaks after washing, your cleanser is taking too much away.

  • Sun protection, in winter too

UVA passes through clouds all year round. So apply sun protection every morning as your last step, even when it is grey.

Good to know about moisture and your skin.

  • Even shiny skin can lack moisture

Oil and moisture are two different things. If you degrease skin that is shiny and tight at the same time, the tightness gets worse.

  • Evaporation counts for more than drinking

Drinking is healthy, but that water does not arrive as an extra layer in your epidermis. Your skin stays hydrated thanks to a barrier that slows down evaporation.

  • Hydrating helps blemish-prone skin too

Strong products against spots often dry out your skin, and dried-out skin sometimes produces even more sebum. Replenishing moisture then brings calm.

  • With flaking, moisture comes before a peel

On chapped skin a peel works against you. First we bring moisture back, and once your skin is stable, a peel can be added.

When you see your GP first.

See your GP first if your skin keeps flaking despite good care, if it itches, cracks or weeps, or if sharply defined red patches keep coming back. That can point to eczema. If your skin became dry after you started a new medicine, discuss it with your GP or pharmacist. Alongside their treatment we are happy to help you with gentle care.

Frequently asked questions about hydra treatment

How much does a hydrating facial cost in Enschede?

At Moons the Hydra treatment costs €79.00 for sixty minutes. You book your slot online and pay afterwards in the salon, by card or in cash.

What does a Hydra treatment do for my skin?

Hyaluronic acid attracts water and holds on to it, and the finishing care makes sure it does not evaporate straight away. Afterwards your skin feels plumper and less tight.

Does a Hydra treatment hurt?

No. The mask feels cool and otherwise you just lie back and relax. Only when we remove impurities can it be a little tender.

How often should I have a Hydra treatment?

If your skin really lacks moisture, we schedule the first few visits every three to four weeks. With an adjusted routine at home, three treatments are then often enough. For maintenance you then come once every four to six weeks, especially from October to March.

Does a Hydra treatment also help oily skin?

Yes, if your skin is shiny and tight at the same time. Then it lacks moisture, and hyaluronic acid replenishes that without weighing your skin down. Extra degreasing only makes it worse.

When do I choose microneedling with hyaluronic acid?

If your skin stays tight, even after a few hydrating treatments. With the Hyaluronic we bring hyaluronic acid deeper into your skin with the Dermapen. Your skin is red for one to two days afterwards, and you book it separately.
