Microneedling in Enschede

Fine needles prompt your skin to make new collagen.
Microneedling with the Dermapen at Moons Beauty

In brief

  • With very fine needles we make thousands of tiny pricks in the top layer of your skin. Your skin repairs them and produces new collagen as it does.
  • You do microneedling as a course of four to six sessions, three to four weeks apart.
  • After the treatment your skin is red for one to two days, roughly like after a sunny day. Make-up is allowed from the third day, but preferably you leave it off for two weeks.
  • At Moons you pay from €89.00 per treatment, and €119.00 for the most complete variant with LED therapy.

What happens under those needles.

With microneedling we go over your skin with a pen with very fine needles. The needles make thousands of tiny channels in the top layer of your skin. Those pricks are too small to cause damage, but big enough to set your skin to work. Your skin starts repairing and produces new collagen and elastin as it does. Those are the fibres that keep your skin firm and supple, and they decline over the years.

We work with the Dermapen. The difference from a roller you buy online lies in the precision. We set the depth per zone, so around your eyes we work shallower than on your cheeks. The needles also go straight in and straight out instead of at an angle, and that saves irritation.

At the same time we apply active ingredients: PDRN for repair, hyaluronic acid for moisture and exosomes as a signalling substance. Through the channels your skin absorbs them far better than when you apply them at home. That's why your skin already feels fuller in the days after, even before the collagen has done its work.

Microneedling is a treatment for the longer term. Your skin soon looks fresher, and the real gain comes in the months after. If you want to look good next week for an occasion, choose a peel or a nourishing treatment instead.

Why you book microneedling.

Microneedling works on the structure of your skin. These are the points where we see the most happen in practice.

  • Small acne scars

Dents and unevenness left behind once the spots themselves have gone. This is what microneedling is booked for most often. It does take patience: you do a course and then maintenance. See also blemish-prone skin.

  • Fine lines and loss of firmness

Around your eyes, your mouth and on your cheeks, microneedling makes the skin firmer, so lines soften. It doesn't fill deep wrinkles, that's what a filler does. See also fine lines.

  • Pigmentation

For pigmentation we often combine microneedling with peels. Daily sun protection is always part of it, otherwise you're working against yourself. The whole approach is under pigmentation.

  • Enlarged pores and dull skin

Your skin looks smoother and reflects light better, and your make-up sits differently on it. This is what most people notice first themselves, often after just one or two sessions.

Six variants each with its own serum.

The technique is always the same: with the Dermapen we make fine channels in your skin. The difference lies in the Meso Cocktail we work in with it. Which one suits your skin best, we discuss at your appointment.

Fifty minutes from cleansing to protection.

You lie back, and most of the time goes to preparation and aftercare.

  1. Cleansing and assessing

We cleanse your skin thoroughly and look at how it's doing that day. If it's irritated or freshly sunburnt, the treatment doesn't go ahead and we find another date together.

  2. Numbing cream

Then we apply a numbing cream, which soaks in for twenty minutes. During the treatment you therefore mainly feel vibration and a slightly scratchy sensation.

  3. The treatment itself

Zone by zone we go over your face, always at the depth that suits that area. Meanwhile we apply the active ingredients. Your skin turns pink to red, and that's part of it.

  4. Calming and protecting

Finally we apply something calming and a protective layer. We tell you what to do and not do in the coming days, and you go home without make-up.

What you see and when.

After one treatment you're not done yet. The result builds up over the whole course.

  1. Day 0 and 1

Red, like after a sunny day

Your skin is red and feels warm and tight. You skip make-up, exercise and the sauna, and you stay out of the sun. Sleep on a clean pillowcase.

  2. Day 2 and 3

    The redness subsides

The redness fades and your skin can feel a little dry or flake slightly. Leave the flakes alone and don't scrub just yet. Make-up is allowed from day three, though we advise you to wait two weeks.

  3. Week 1 and 2

    The first thing you notice

Your skin looks smoother and fresher, and make-up sits differently on it. That's what you see. Deeper in your skin the real work is still going on.

  4. After 3 months

What the course is meant for

After four to six treatments you see the effect on what needs time. Your skin is firmer and more even, and small scars look shallower. Take photos at the start, because you get used to your own skin and forget how it was.

When it's possible and when we don't do it.

We're strict about this. Microneedling on skin that isn't ready for it makes things worse instead of better.

A good idea if

  • You have small scars or unevenness left over from spots in the past.
  • Your skin feels less firm and you see fine lines appearing.
  • You have pigmentation that doesn't improve with skincare alone.
  • You're willing to commit to a course and a home routine.

Check with us first

  • With active, inflamed spots or a skin infection we wait, because with the needles we would spread it. Your skin has to settle first.
  • If you've just been in the sun or on the sunbed, we wait about two weeks.
  • During pregnancy and while breastfeeding we don't do microneedling. The mild nourishing treatments are fine.
  • Do you use blood thinners or medication that makes your skin vulnerable, such as isotretinoin? Then check with your GP or specialist first.
  • Do you have a spot that's changing shape or colour? See your GP about that first.

Or would a peel suit you better?

They seem interchangeable, but they do different things to your skin. Sometimes a peel is the better choice.

TopicWhat it doesDowntimePrice per session
MicroneedlingWorks on structure and firmness, for small scars, lines and pores.1 to 2 days redFrom €89.00
Glow peel 23%Works on the surface, for dull skin, uneven colour and clogged pores.Sometimes a few days of light peeling€79.00
Mandelic acid 30%A milder acid treatment, also suitable for more sensitive skin and for pigmentation.Sometimes light flaking€89.00
Vitamin C treatmentA refresh, for example just before an occasion.None€85.00

We often alternate them: peels to get your skin even, microneedling for the structure. The full comparison, per skin concern, is in microneedling or a peel. What suits you, we discuss during the skin analysis.

Where the salon ends and the doctor begins.

Microneedling in the salon works in the top layer of your skin. Deeper treatments, injectables and laser belong with a clinic or a doctor, and we don't do them. Do you have deep scars or a skin condition, or do you use heavy medication for your skin? Then see your GP or dermatologist first. After that we're happy to look at what we can do for you alongside that treatment.

Frequently asked questions about microneedling

How much does microneedling cost in Enschede?

At Moons Beauty microneedling costs €89.00 to €99.00 per treatment, depending on the serum we use. LED therapy with it costs €20.00 extra. You pay per session, so you decide each time yourself whether to continue.

How many treatments do I need?

Usually four to six, three to four weeks apart. That has to do with your skin cycle. Your skin needs about four weeks to renew itself, and the collagen keeps building in the months after.

Does microneedling hurt?

Beforehand we apply a numbing cream, which soaks in for twenty minutes. After that you mainly feel vibration and a slightly scratchy sensation. Around your nose and on your forehead it's a little more sensitive than on your cheeks.

How long will I be red after the treatment?

Usually one to two days, roughly like after a day in the sun. So don't plan your appointment just before a wedding. Make-up is allowed from the third day, but preferably you wear no make-up for two weeks.

Does microneedling help with acne scars?

This is what microneedling is booked for most often, and in practice we see small scars become shallower over a course. What's achievable for you depends on the type of scar and how long it's been there. We discuss that together during the analysis.

What's the difference from a dermaroller from the internet?

With the Dermapen we set the depth per zone, and the needles go straight in and out. Everything is sterile and single-use. With a roller at home you have no control over the depth and you risk irritation and damage.

Can I have microneedling straight away at my first appointment?

No, you book microneedling separately. We want to see your skin first and know how it reacts to something gentler. So start with the first skin appointment, then you know straight away whether microneedling suits you.

What shouldn't I do after the treatment?

Skip exercise and the sauna for the first few days, stay out of the sun and preferably wear no make-up for two weeks. If you really must, it's possible from the third day. In the days after, don't use scrubs or acids for a while, and during the day always apply sun protection. With pigmentation, that last one is really necessary.
