In brief
- Exosomes are tiny vesicles that cells use to send each other signals. In skincare they work as a signalling substance: they help your skin renew itself.
- At Moons, exosomes are in the Meso Cocktail PDRN + HA + Exo by Yellow Rose, together with PDRN from salmon DNA, hyaluronic acid and peptides.
- According to the seller, the exosomes in that cocktail are plant-based: they come from centella.
- We work the cocktail in with microneedling with the Dermapen. Through the fine channels your skin absorbs the active ingredients far better than when you apply them at home.
- A treatment costs €99.00, with LED therapy €119.00. Count on a course of four to six sessions.

What exosomes actually are.
Exosomes are tiny vesicles that cells use to send each other signals. You can think of them as parcels with a message: they carry proteins and other substances from one cell to another.
In skincare they are used as a signalling substance. They help your skin renew itself, which is why you see them more and more in serums and in treatments such as microneedling. You may also see them called exo for short.
Exosomes are not the same as stem cells. They are not cells at all: they are the vesicles that cells release.
Where do they come from?
Exosomes can come from all kinds of sources: from plants, from bacteria and from animal or human cells. Which source a product uses differs per brand.
We work with the Meso Cocktail PDRN + HA + Exo by Yellow Rose, a line for professional use. According to the seller, the exosomes in it come from centella, a plant that is widely used in skincare. So they are plant-based exosomes.
If you have an exosome treatment somewhere else, feel free to ask where they come from. A salon should be able to tell you.
What else is in the cocktail.
In our cocktail, exosomes work together with three other active ingredients.
| Topic | What it is | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Exosomes | Vesicles that cells use to pass on signals, here from centella | Help your skin renew itself |
| PDRN | An active ingredient from salmon DNA | Stimulates your skin to make collagen and elasticity |
| Hyaluronic acid | A substance your skin makes itself too, which holds moisture | Hydrates deeply, so your skin feels fuller |
| Peptides | Short chains of amino acids | Work as a signalling substance for your skin |
Together they give a more even complexion, softer fine lines and skin that feels firmer and fuller. That builds up over a course.
Why with microneedling?
The top layer of your skin is built to keep things out. If you apply a serum, very little of it gets deep into your skin.
With the Dermapen we make fine channels in your skin, and through those channels your skin absorbs the active ingredients far better. At the same time it stimulates your skin to make new collagen. That is why your skin already feels fuller in the days after, before the collagen has done its work.
We don't do injections with exosomes or other skin boosters. Those belong with a doctor.
Who it suits, and when not.
A good idea if
- Your skin feels less firm and you see fine lines appearing
- You have small scars left over from old spots
- Your skin could use an extra boost. This variant is often chosen from your mid-thirties
- You want to do as much as possible in one appointment, with LED therapy added
Check with us first
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding. Then we don't do microneedling. The gentle caring treatments are fine
- Active, inflamed spots or a skin infection. Then we wait until your skin has calmed down
- Recent sun or sunbed. Then we wait about two weeks
- Blood thinners or medication that makes your skin vulnerable, such as isotretinoin. Check with your GP or specialist first
What does a course with exosomes cost?
You pay per session. Because you usually do a course, the amounts for four to six sessions are shown here too.
| Treatment | Per session | Usual course | Full course (estimate) |
|---|---|---|---|
| With PDRN, hyaluronic acid and exosomes | €99.00 | 4 to 6 sessions | €396.00 to €594.00 |
| With LED therapy added | €119.00 | 4 to 6 sessions | €476.00 to €714.00 |
With LED therapy you can also take a course: three sessions for €329.00, six for €619.00. You start with the first skin appointment. You'll find all prices on the prices page.

First a numbing cream goes on, which takes twenty minutes to work. After that you mainly feel vibration and a slight scratchy feeling. Around your nose and on your forehead it is a bit more sensitive.
