In brief
- Keep your lashes or brows dry for the first 24 hours and don't touch them. Leave water, steam, sweat and make-up on your brows out of that day. After that mascara is fine again. To make the result last as long as possible, avoid oil around your eyes and take it easy with sauna and swimming pool for the first few days.
- You see a lash lift and a brow lamination for six to eight weeks. Henna stays on your skin for about two weeks and on the hairs for about seven weeks, hybrid on your skin for up to about seven days. Tint lasts up to about four weeks.
- Oil works differently per treatment. Around your lashes it makes a lift drop sooner, on the skin under henna and hybrid it takes the colour away, and with a brow lamination a drop of oil or serum keeps the hairs soft, from the second day.
- If your lift or lamination did get wet, pat it dry gently, don't rub and brush the hairs back into shape. If they clearly sit differently than intended after a few days, send us a message.
- If your eye, eyelid or the skin around your brows turns red, swollen or itchy and it doesn't go away, call your GP and tell us.

What you do after each treatment.
With a lift and a lamination, the first day decides how neatly it stays in place. With henna and hybrid, it decides how long the colour stays on your skin. Tint asks the least.
| Topic | First 24 hours | After that | How long it lasts | What takes it away sooner |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lash lift (classic and Korean) | Keep your lashes dry and don't touch them. Leave mascara off for now | Mascara and make-up are fine again. Brush your lashes into shape every day, a lash serum is fine from the second day | Six to eight weeks | Oil around your eyes, frequent rubbing and getting wet in the first 24 hours |
| Lash tint | We talk you through this at the end of your appointment. If you had a lift as well, the lift advice applies | Regular mascara is fine. Leave waterproof mascara alone | About four weeks | Waterproof mascara and rubbing hard |
| Brow lamination | Keep your brows dry, don't touch them and leave make-up off them | Brush them upwards every morning with a clean brush, with a drop of oil or serum | Six to eight weeks | Getting wet in the first 24 hours and hairs drying out because they are not cared for |
| Henna brows | Keep dry, don't touch, leave make-up off and skip steam and sauna | Cleanse gently and keep scrubs, acids, retinol and oil away from your brows for two weeks | On your skin about two weeks, on the hairs about seven weeks | An oily skin, scrubs, acids, retinol, oil and rubbing |
| Hybrid brows | Keep dry, leave make-up off, skip steam and sauna and don't rub | Cleanse without oil and keep scrubs and acids away from your brows | On your skin up to about seven days, on the hairs up to about seven weeks | An oily skin, oil, scrubs and acids |
| Brow tint | Leave make-up off the waxed spots and skip sauna and sunbeds | Don't rub your brows hard and keep scrubs away | Up to about four weeks | Rubbing and scrubs: every wash takes away a little colour |
These times are upper limits, because your skin type and your aftercare make a difference. If we give you different advice at the end of your appointment, for instance because of the products we worked with, follow that.
From the first day to your next appointment.
The first 24 hours
Dry and left alone
In these hours the new shape or the colour sets. Keep your hands off your lashes and brows, keep them dry and skip steam, sweat and make-up on your brows.
Day 2
Back to normal, with a few habits
Mascara and make-up are fine again. After a lift or lamination, brush your lashes or brows upwards every day. If the colour of henna or hybrid looks strong on the first day, it softens by itself between day two and five.
Week 2 to 4
Touching up the shape
New hairs grow outside the line. A short appointment for shaping keeps the shape sharp. Laminating again is not needed yet. After henna, the shadow on your skin is gone around week two, and brow tint is due for a touch-up around week three to four.
Week 4 to 8
Time for a new one
Tint on your lashes has faded after about four weeks. A lash lift grows out after six to eight weeks, and you leave at least six weeks between two brow laminations. The colour of henna and hybrid on your hairs fades until about week seven.
Mascara, showering, sauna and sleeping: what is fine when?
| Topic | First 24 hours | After that |
|---|---|---|
| Showering and washing your face | Keep your lashes and brows dry, also in the shower and when washing your face | Fine. Cleanse gently and don't rub your brows |
| Sauna, steam, swimming pool and heavy sweating | Skip it for a day | Fine again. If you want the result to last as long as possible, take it easy for the first few days |
| Mascara and make-up | Leave mascara alone, and make-up on your brows too | Fine again. Pick a mascara you can remove without oil and leave waterproof alone |
| Sleeping | If you can, don't sleep with your face in the pillow | Rub your eyes as little as possible |
| Touching and rubbing | Don't touch them | Rub as little as possible, because rubbing takes colour off your skin and makes a lift drop sooner |
| Lash serum | Not yet | Fine from the second day |
If you want a lift or lamination to last as long as possible, take it easy with sauna and swimming pool for the first few days.
Oil on your lashes and brows.
Oil does something different around your eyes than on your brows, and something different with henna than with a lamination.
Around your lashes
Oil makes the lift go limp sooner. That goes for cleansers and waterproof mascara too, which you usually remove with an oil-based product.
With a brow lamination
Lifted hairs dry out faster. From the second day a drop of oil or serum keeps them soft, and that gets you closer to eight weeks than six.
With henna and hybrid
On your skin, oil takes the colour away sooner. Cleanse without oil and keep scrubs and acids away from your brows too.
Got wet anyway, what now?
A few drops or a rain shower in the first 24 hours doesn't mean your lift or lamination is gone. Gently pat your lashes or brows dry with a clean tissue and don't rub. Then brush the hairs upwards into the shape they had and leave them alone.
If they were properly soaked, for instance in the shower or the swimming pool, the lift or lamination can become less firm or collapse in places. You only notice that in the days after. Don't try to fix it yourself with a curling iron or a home kit. If the result is clearly less, send us a WhatsApp on +31 6 12 02 42 00.
Does something not look right after a day?
The lift looks tight or has a kink
On the first day a lift can still look a bit tight. That usually relaxes a little in the first days. Don't have a new lift done over it, care for your lashes with a lash serum from the second day and show it to us.
The hairs sit differently than intended
After a brow lamination the hairs sit tightest in the first days and then soften a little. If they clearly sit differently than intended, for instance after a shower or rain, send us a message. Don't have a new lamination done over it.
The colour is too dark
The colour is strongest on the first day. Wait a few days, because between day two and five it softens by itself. Don't go over it with a scrub.
The colour is uneven
That is usually because the skin was not free of grease beforehand, since grease or a bit of leftover make-up makes the colour take unevenly. Tell us, and we will look at it.
Eye or skin red or itchy?
If your eye or eyelid turns red, swollen or painful after a lash lift, keeps watering or you see worse, don't wait and call your GP. The same goes for itching, swelling, blisters or red, burning skin around your brows after a lamination, henna or tint. Tell us as well, and mention it at every colour treatment after that. If your eyelids or face swell up quickly, or you get short of breath, call 112 straight away.
Frequently asked questions about lash and brow aftercare
How long can your lashes not get wet after a lash lift?
24 hours. In that time the new shape is still setting. Keep your lashes dry, also in the shower, and don't touch them. After that you can wash your face and shower as usual.
Can you use mascara after a lash lift?
Yes, from 24 hours after the treatment. Pick a mascara you can remove without oil and leave waterproof mascara alone, because you usually remove it with an oil-based product. Oil makes the lift drop sooner. Many clients find they need less mascara.
How long can your brows not get wet after a brow lamination?
24 hours. In that time the new shape is still setting. Keep your brows dry in the shower and when washing your face too, and leave make-up off them that day.
Can you shower after a lash lift or brow lamination?
Yes, but keep your lashes and brows dry for the first 24 hours. Shower with your face turned away from the water and wash your face carefully. After those 24 hours it is fine.
Can you go to the sauna or swimming pool after a lash lift?
Not on the first day, because steam, sweat and water are too much for the new shape. After that it is fine. If you want the lift to last as long as possible, take it easy for the first few days. Going on holiday? Plan the lift a few days before you leave.
How do you sleep after a lash lift?
If you can, don't sleep with your face in the pillow the first night, and don't rub your eyes. That can still disturb the shape. After that, rub your eyes as little as possible.
What can't you do after henna brows?
In the first 24 hours you keep your brows dry, don't rub them and leave make-up, steam and sauna alone. After that you keep scrubs, acids, retinol and oil away from your brows for about two weeks, because they take the colour off your skin.
Can you put make-up on your brows after a brow lamination?
Not in the first 24 hours. After that everything is fine again, although most clients no longer need their pencils and gels.
How long does the colour of henna, hybrid or tint last?
Henna stays on your skin for about two weeks and on the hairs for about seven weeks. Hybrid stays on your skin for up to about seven days and on the hairs for up to about seven weeks. Tint on your brows or lashes stays visible for up to about four weeks. These are upper limits, and an oily skin takes the colour off your skin sooner.
When can you have your brows or lashes done again?
A lash lift after six to eight weeks, once your lashes have renewed. Between two brow laminations you leave at least six weeks. Tinting can be done once the colour has faded, usually after about four weeks. You can have the shape of your brows touched up after two to four weeks.
My lash lift got wet, what now?
Gently pat your lashes dry with a clean tissue, don't rub and brush them upwards with a clean brush. A few drops usually change little. If they were soaked, the lift can become less firm in the days after. If the result is clearly less, send us a message.
My brows or lashes don't look right after a day, what do I do?
Wait a few days, because a lift can still look a bit tight on the first day and the colour of henna or hybrid is strongest on the first day. Both settle after that. Don't try to fix it yourself and don't have a new treatment done over it. If it still isn't right, send us a WhatsApp on +31 6 12 02 42 00.
