In brief
- We shape your brows with wax and tweezers, in a shape that suits your face and what you like.
- The appointment takes thirty minutes, and after that the shape stays neat for three to four weeks.
- We would rather take away too little than too much, because what stays can always go later.
- At Moons it costs €19.50. If you want colour with it, you choose tint, in the same thirty minutes.

What shaping does for your brows.
With shaping we give your own brows a neat, clear shape. We remove the hairs that grow outside the line, so the shape of your brows comes into its own again. They stay your own brows, just neater.
We work with wax and tweezers. Wax, called hars in Dutch, takes away a row of hairs in one go, right down to the fine downy hairs you can hardly see. With the tweezers we then tidy the line hair by hair. That last part is called tweezing. That is why many people also call the treatment eyebrow tweezing, or eyebrow waxing when they mean the wax.
An appointment takes thirty minutes, and the shape stays neat for three to four weeks. We do your brows ourselves, from deciding on the shape to the aftercare.
How we decide on a shape that suits you.
In the trade a rule of thumb with three points is often used. That is a guide: after that we look at your own growth and at what you like.
The start
The start usually sits directly above the side of your nostril. If your brows start further in, your look seems sterner. If they start further out, your eyes seem further apart.
The arch
The highest point often sits on a line from your nostril along the outer edge of your iris, when you look straight ahead. A high arch looks open and pronounced, a low arch calmer.
The end
The tail stops at about a line from your nostril along the outer corner of your eye. If it drops lower than the start, your look can seem tired.
What you like
Some people like a straight, soft brow, others a clear arch. Feel free to bring a photo of brows you like, then we look together at what is possible with your hair growth.
Thirty minutes from looking to caring.
Most of the work is at the start: looking closely and agreeing together. The waxing itself is done in no time after that.
Looking and agreeing
We look at your face and at how your hairs naturally grow. Together we agree on the shape, and only then do we start.
Cleansing
We clean your brows and the skin around them. On clean skin the wax grips the hairs better.
Waxing and tweezing
With wax we remove what grows outside the agreed shape. Then we tidy the stray hairs with the tweezers, until the line is right and your brows match each other.
Caring
We apply calming aftercare, and the redness is usually gone within an hour. Make-up on the waxed areas is best left off that day, as are the sauna and sunbed.
Shape only or colour and lift too.
Shaping is part of every brow treatment at Moons. The difference is in what else happens to your hairs.

Plucking yourself or letting them grow out.
Between two appointments it is tempting to pluck a few yourself, and that is often where it goes wrong. In a magnifying mirror every hair looks like one too many. Before you know it, the line has shifted or one brow is thinner than the other.
If your brows have been plucked too thin, you can often let them grow back. That mainly takes patience, because brow hairs grow slowly and not all at the same time. Think in months rather than weeks. In places where you have plucked for years, the growth can stay thinner. How to get through those months, you can read in growing out your brows.
In the meantime, when shaping we only remove what clearly falls outside the shape you are growing towards. The rest we leave, even if it looks a little untidy for a while. Colour makes the wait easier. With tint short, light hairs become visible, and hybrid or henna colours the skin beneath too, so thin patches stand out less.
- In between, only pluck hairs that clearly sit loose below your brows, and leave the top and the start alone.
- Look in an ordinary mirror at arm's length, then you see your brows as someone else sees them.
- Keep a razor away from your brows. One stroke is enough to lose part of your shape.
When shaping is enough.
Shaping is the basis of every brow treatment at Moons. What you add to it depends on the colour and the direction of your hairs.
A good idea if
- You have dark or full brows and are mainly after a neat line.
- You have plucked your brows yourself for years and want a shape that suits your face again.
- You have henna or hybrid and only want the shape tidied in between.
- You have a wedding or party. Then plan it a week or two beforehand, as in the schedule for your wedding.
Check with us first
- Acids or retinol around your brows. Leave those out for the last few days before your appointment.
- A recent peel or microneedling. Then we wait with waxing until your skin has settled again.
- Skin that reddens quickly. Tell us beforehand, because sensitive skin often reacts faster to wax.
- Eczema, small wounds or an inflamed spot on your brow. Then we do not treat, and you see your GP first.
- Brows that are getting thinner while you are not doing anything to them, or patches that suddenly fall out. Have your GP look at that first, because there can be a cause behind it.
Good to know about brow shaping.
Harsen and waxing are the same thing
Hars is the Dutch word for wax. Tweezing is the work with the tweezers. With shaping we do both.
What we remove grows back
A shaped brow simply grows on in the weeks after. That is why after three to four weeks you see hairs outside the line again, and you can choose the shape anew each time.
Two brows are rarely exactly alike
Almost everyone has one brow that sits a little higher or grows differently. We look for balance, so that together they form a calm whole.

Book an appointmentFrequently asked questions about brow shaping
How much does brow shaping cost in Enschede?
At Moons brow shaping costs €19.50, and the appointment takes thirty minutes. With tint added it is €30.00, in the same time. You pay afterwards in the salon, by card or in cash.
Does eyebrow waxing hurt?
A little. The pull itself is done in a second, and you notice it mostly the first time and just before your period. Afterwards we apply calming care against the redness.
Is waxing or tweezing better for my brows?
They complement each other, so we do both. Wax quickly and evenly removes what grows outside the line, including the fine downy hairs. With the tweezers we then finish the line precisely.
How long do my brows stay neat after shaping?
Three to four weeks. After that the new hairs outside the line become visible, and it is time for your next appointment. You book each time separately, and we are happy to tell you which rhythm suits your hair growth.
Should I let my brows grow before my appointment?
It helps if you stop plucking yourself in the time before. The more hairs there are, the more choice we have when deciding on the shape. A hair that is already gone, we cannot put back.
Can I have my brows shaped if I am pregnant?
Yes, shaping is fine. The waxing can feel more sensitive during this period, though. Colour on your brows we decide on together, as with other treatments during your pregnancy.
Are my brows included in a Full Face Wax?
Yes. With Full Face Wax we wax your whole face and shape your brows too. That takes 45 minutes and costs €40.00.
