In brief
- A lash lift sets your own lashes upwards. Lash extensions are individual false lashes that are glued onto your own lashes.
- A lift lasts six to eight weeks and needs no upkeep in between. Extensions need infills every few weeks.
- A lift gives an open look with the lashes you have. Extensions give more length and volume than you have naturally.
- At Moons we do the lash lift, classic and Korean. We don't apply extensions.

The difference in brief.
A lash lift changes the position of your own lashes. Lash extensions add something: individual false lashes that are glued onto your own lashes. That is the whole difference, and everything else follows from it.
With a lift you see what you already have, only set upwards and, if you like, tinted darker. With extensions you choose the length, the curl and the fullness, regardless of what you have naturally.
If convenience matters most to you, you end up with a lift. If you want a fuller or longer effect than your own lashes can give, extensions suit you better.

| Topic | Lash lift | Lash extensions |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | Your own lashes, set upwards and fixed in place | Individual false lashes, glued onto your own lashes |
| The effect | An open look, lashes look longer. As full as your own lashes are | More length and volume than you have naturally, from subtle to dramatic |
| How long | Six to eight weeks, then you start again | They fall out with your own lashes. Every few weeks you have them infilled |
| Care at home | Keep them dry for the first 24 hours, after that almost nothing | Clean and brush them every day, and be careful with rubbing and oil |
| Mascara | Fine after 24 hours. Often you need less of it | Usually not needed |
| When you stop | The lift grows out by itself | Have them removed in the salon and don't pull them off yourself |
| At Moons | Yes. Classic €50.00, Korean €60.00 | No, we don't apply extensions |
Everything about the lift itself, from aftercare to what to do if it got wet, is in lash lift: all you need to know.
Which one suits you?
You want to get up and be ready
Then a lash lift suits you. There is no work in between, and you can swim, exercise and wash your face just as you are used to.
You want a natural effect
A lift shows your own lashes. With tint added they stand out even without mascara, and nobody can tell that anything has been done.
You want more volume than you have yourself
A lift can't give you that. If you naturally have few or very short lashes and want a full effect, you end up with extensions.
You don't want to be tied to anything
A lift grows out in six to eight weeks, and then you decide again. Extensions come with a fixed rhythm of infills.
From extensions to a lash lift.
A lash lift can't go over extensions. Have your extensions removed completely first, ideally at the salon where they were applied. Pulling them off yourself takes your own lashes with them.
If your own lashes feel thin or brittle afterwards, give them a few months' rest first. A lash serum helps during that time. Once they are strong again, we look together at whether a classic or a Korean lash lift suits you best.

Frequently asked questions about lash lift or extensions
Which is better, a lash lift or lash extensions?
That depends on what you want. A lash lift is easier: your own lashes, set upwards for six to eight weeks, with no upkeep. Extensions give more length and volume, but need an infill appointment every few weeks and more care at home.
Does a lash lift look as full as extensions?
No. A lift shows your own lashes, set upwards. They look longer, and darker with tint, but no lashes are added. If you want clearly more volume than you have yourself, you need extensions.
Which is cheaper, a lash lift or extensions?
You have a lash lift every six to eight weeks, while extensions need infills every few weeks. So with extensions you come back more often. At Moons a lash lift costs €50.00 to €65.00 per session. We don't apply extensions, so we have no price for them.
Can a lash lift go over extensions?
No. The extensions have to come off completely first.
How long should I wait for a lash lift after extensions?
If your own lashes are strong, it can be done as soon as the extensions are off. If they feel thin or brittle, give them a few months' rest first.
Can you wear mascara with a lash lift?
Yes, after the first 24 hours. Choose one you can remove without oil.
Can you swim and exercise with a lash lift?
Yes. After the first 24 hours everything is fine again.
Do you apply lash extensions?
No. At Moons we do the classic lash lift, the Korean lash lift and lash tinting. All three work with your own lashes.
