What hybrid brows actually are.
Hybrid tint is a brow tint that sits between ordinary tint and henna. Hybrid means mixed, and that is how it works too. Like ordinary tint it colours your hairs. On top of that it leaves a light colour on the skin beneath, and that soft shadow gives your brows extra definition.
Ordinary tint only takes on the hair, so where there are few hairs, your brows stay light. Henna clearly colours the skin as well, and that gives a full, filled-in look. Hybrid sits in between: your brows look fuller and better defined, while not looking drawn on.
At Moons, hybrid brows is a complete brow treatment, with cleansing, shaping with wax and tweezers, trimming and aftercare. The treatment takes half an hour.
Between tint and henna and when to choose which.
All three colour your hairs. What makes hybrid different is the colour on your skin: more than with tint, and shorter than with henna.
| Topic | Choose this if | On the skin | On the hairs | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tint | You have enough hairs and want it as natural as possible | The skin does not take colour | On average up to about four weeks | €30.00 |
| Hybrid brows | Tint does too little for you and henna is just a bit too much | Up to about seven days | Up to about seven weeks | €35.00 |
| Henna brows | You want to fill in sparse patches and like a full look | Up to about fourteen days | Up to about seven weeks | €38.00 |
Each of these three includes shaping. How long the colour really lasts depends on your skin and on what you do at home.
Who hybrid is the best choice for.
Hybrid suits brows with enough hairs best, where you want to see more shape and definition.
A good idea if
- Your hairs are light or fine, and with tint alone your brows still look too soft.
- You want your brows to look fuller, with a soft shadow rather than a filled-in block.
- You fill in your brows a little every morning and want to do that less often.
- You are curious how colour on your skin suits you, and two weeks of henna feels a bit long.
Check with us first
- Lots of sparse patches or a thin tail. Henna colours the skin more clearly and then has more effect.
- Hairs that grow in all directions. Then a brow lamination does more than colour.
- A previous reaction to hair dye or brow tint. Mention it when booking, then we test first.
- Oily skin. On it the colour on the skin usually fades faster, although your hairs hold it just fine.
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding. Then we decide together whether to add the colour, because shaping is always possible.
- A small wound or eczema on your brow. We do not apply colour there. Let your skin heal first, and if in doubt see your GP.
From shape to colour in half an hour.
The shaping is a little tender. The tint itself you hardly feel.
Choosing shape and shade
We look at your face and your own growth, and together we agree on shape and colour. That choice counts extra with hybrid, because the colour on your skin outlines the shape during the first days.
Cleansing and shaping
We cleanse your brows and the skin around them, so that the colour takes evenly later. With wax and tweezers we remove whatever falls outside the line, and where needed we trim long hairs.
Applying the hybrid tint
We choose a colour that suits your hair and your skin, and would rather start a shade too light than too dark. The tint goes on your hairs and the skin beneath, and is left to develop for a while.
Removing and caring
After removal we apply care against redness. You see the result straight away, and we tell you what is best avoided for the first few days.
Why your skin lets go of the colour sooner.
Hybrid tint sits in two places, and they behave differently. Your skin renews itself constantly: on the surface small skin cells keep coming loose, and every time you cleanse some goes with it. That is why the colour on your skin is visible for up to about seven days.
In your hairs the colour lasts longer. There it fades slowly, and hairs that fall out make way for new, uncoloured hairs. That is how the colour on your hairs stays visible for up to about seven weeks.
Anything that makes the top layer of your skin shed faster also removes the colour sooner, such as scrubs and active ingredients like acids and retinol. Cleansing with oil takes colour with it too.
From the first day to week seven.
Hybrid has two timescales: a short one on your skin and a long one on your hairs.
First 24 hours
Dry and without make-up
Keep water and make-up away from your brows that first day, and skip the sauna and steam. Do not rub them either, because that takes colour off your skin.
Days 2 to 7
The skin gets lighter
Every day the colour on your skin gets a little softer. Cleanse that area without oil and keep scrubs and acids away from your brows, then it stays visible the longest.
Weeks 2 to 4
Your hairs keep the colour
Your skin has its own colour back, your hairs are still tinted. After three to four weeks new hairs grow outside the line. A short appointment for shaping keeps the shape crisp.
Weeks 5 to 7
Time for a new one
The colour on your hairs now gradually fades. Then you book hybrid again, or you go for tint or henna for a change.
Good to know about hybrid brows.
On your hairs hybrid lasts just as long as henna
Both up to about seven weeks. The difference is on the skin: hybrid lasts there up to about seven days, henna up to about fourteen.
Hybrid disappears by itself
The colour sits on your skin and in your hairs, and nothing goes under the skin. That makes it something quite different from microblading or powder brows. We do not do permanent make-up.
The colour looks strongest in the first days
After that the colour on your skin softens every day. If your brows look bolder on the first day than you are used to, that evens out by itself.

What are hybrid brows?
Hybrid brows is a brow treatment with hybrid tint, a tint that sits between ordinary brow tint and henna. It colours your hairs and lightly tints the skin beneath too. At Moons, shaping with wax and tweezers is always included.
How much do hybrid brows cost in Enschede?
At Moons hybrid brows cost €35.00, and the treatment takes half an hour. Cleansing, shaping, trimming and aftercare are included in the price. You pay afterwards in the salon, by card or in cash.
How long do hybrid brows last?
On your skin up to about seven days, on your hairs up to about seven weeks. Those are upper limits. On oily skin, or if you often scrub that area, the colour on your skin goes sooner.
Which is better, hybrid brows or henna brows?
That depends on what you are looking for. Henna colours the skin more clearly, for up to about fourteen days, and gives the fullest look. Hybrid colours the skin more lightly, for up to about seven days, and looks softer. On the hairs they both last up to about seven weeks.
What is the difference between hybrid brows and a brow tint?
Ordinary tint only colours your hairs, on average for up to about four weeks. Hybrid tint lightly takes in the skin as well and lasts on the hairs for up to about seven weeks. That is why your brows look fuller than after a tint.
Do hybrid brows hurt?
Applying the tint does not hurt. Only the shaping with wax and tweezers is a little tender, and you notice that most the first time. The redness is usually gone within an hour.
Are hybrid brows the same as microblading?
No. With microblading, colour is placed in your skin, and that stays visible for a long time. Hybrid tint sits on your skin and in your hairs, and disappears by itself. We do not do microblading or powder brows, nor any other permanent make-up.
Can I combine hybrid brows with a lash lift?
Yes, brows and a lash lift are often booked together. Send us a WhatsApp before you book, then we plan it as one appointment with enough time.
