Fruit acid peel in Enschede

In three strengths, from first try to full glow.

In brief

  • A fruit acid peel dissolves the glue between dead skin cells, so they come away in days instead of weeks. Underneath, smoother skin appears.
  • We work with a gel of glycolic, lactic and citric acid in three strengths: 10, 23 and 30 per cent. We almost always start low.
  • The First peel costs €69.00, the Glow peel €79.00 or €89.00. Each peel takes fifty minutes.
  • The effect builds up: four mild peels three weeks apart do more than one strong one. After the peel we finish with LED therapy or a mask, and always with SPF.

What fruit acid does to your skin.

Your skin renews itself in about four weeks. New cells form at the bottom, the old ones shed at the top. As you get older that slows down, and with oily or congested skin the old cells stick around more easily. Your skin turns dull and rough, and your pores clog up faster.

Fruit acids, also known as AHAs, work on exactly that. Glycolic, lactic and citric acid dissolve the glue between the dead cells. Those come away in a few days and underneath, skin appears that is smoother and reflects light better. At the same time, your skin starts repairing itself, and that is where the cumulative effect comes from.

The gel we use comes in three strengths. We choose the percentage for you: we look at your skin, your skin tone and what you already use at home, and build up from there. A strong peel brings a higher risk of irritation, and of more pigmentation rather than less. That is why we start low, even if you have had peels elsewhere before.

Three strengths and when we choose which.

The same fruit acid gel, in three steps. You only go up a step once the previous one has gone well.

Each peel takes fifty minutes. If you want LED therapy afterwards, you book it on top for €20.00 and twenty minutes extra.

Fifty minutes from cleansing to SPF.

  1. Cleansing and assessing

We remove make-up and the day's build-up and look at your skin. If you use acids or retinol at home, those should already be out of your routine a few days beforehand. We ask about that when you book.

  2. The peel

We apply the gel and let it work. You feel tingling or a slight warmth, and that is the intention. If it becomes more than that, you say so and we remove it sooner.

  3. Neutralising and calming

We stop the action of the acid and calm your skin. Then comes LED therapy or a mask, whichever suits best how your skin reacts.

  4. Finishing with SPF

You leave with protection on your skin. After a peel your skin is more sensitive to the sun, so in the days after you apply SPF every morning, even in winter.

What a course ends up costing you.

For a visible difference, count on four to six peels, about three weeks apart. You pay per session and decide each time yourself whether to continue.

TreatmentPer sessionUsual courseFull course (estimate)
First peel 10%€69.004 to 6 sessions€276.00 to €414.00
Glow peel 23%€79.004 to 6 sessions€316.00 to €474.00
Glow peel 30%€89.004 to 6 sessions€356.00 to €534.00

In practice you start with the First peel and go up from there, so a course usually falls between these amounts. You pay afterwards in the salon, by card or in cash.

When fruit acid suits and when we choose something else.

A good idea if

  • Your skin looks dull and feels rough, and you want it to glow again.
  • Your pores keep clogging up, or you suffer from blackheads and spots.
  • Your complexion is uneven, with fine lines or a blotchy tone.
  • You have oily skin that handles active ingredients well.

Check with us first

  • Sensitive or darker skin, or pigmentation you actually want to get rid of. Then we sooner choose mandelic acid, which penetrates more slowly.
  • Acids or retinol at home. Stop those a few days beforehand, otherwise your skin reacts more strongly than intended.
  • An important occasion the day after. At 23 and 30 per cent you may peel for a few days, so do not plan your peel right before it.
  • Facial waxing. After a peel we wait with that until your skin has completely settled.
  • Pregnancy or medication for your skin. Let us know beforehand, then we discuss what is possible.

Good to know about a fruit acid peel.

  • Starting low is not caution, it works better

Four mild peels three weeks apart do more than one strong one. A strong peel brings a higher risk of irritation and of new pigmentation, exactly what you do not want.

  • Peeling is part of it, but not always

At 10 per cent you usually notice nothing, at 23 and 30 per cent you may flake lightly for a few days. That is your skin shedding the old layer. Do not pull at it and do not use a scrub.

  • Sun protection is half the result

Peeled skin is more sensitive to the sun. Apply SPF every morning in the weeks after, even when it is cloudy or winter. Read more about sun protection.

Sometimes your skin belongs with the GP first.

Active acne with painful or inflamed spots, a skin condition that is flaring up, or a spot that grows or changes colour, you have looked at by your GP first. If you use isotretinoin or another treatment for your skin, check with your doctor first whether a peel is possible.

Frequently asked questions about fruit acid peel

What does a fruit acid peel cost in Enschede?

At Moons the First peel at 10 per cent costs €69.00. The Glow peel costs €79.00 at 23 per cent and €89.00 at 30 per cent. Each peel takes fifty minutes, and you pay afterwards in the salon.

How many fruit acid peels do I need?

For a visible difference, count on four to six peels, about three weeks apart. The effect builds up: each peel prompts your skin to renew itself again.

Which percentage is right for me?

We choose that for you. We almost always start with 10 per cent, even if you have had peels elsewhere, and only go up once your skin tolerates it well. For sensitive or darker skin we often choose mandelic acid instead of fruit acid.

Will I peel after a fruit acid peel?

At 10 per cent usually not, at most your skin feels a little dry. At 23 and 30 per cent you may flake lightly for a few days. That is part of the recovery and clears up by itself.

Can I go in the sun after a peel?

Preferably not, and in any case not without protection. After a peel your skin is more sensitive to the sun. Apply SPF every morning in the weeks after, even in winter, and skip the sunbed.

Is a fruit acid peel the same as a chemical peel?

A fruit acid peel is a type of chemical peel: a peel with an acid. At Moons those are fruit acids in three strengths and mandelic acid. The herbal peel works differently, with ground sponge and algae.
