Evening out is not the same as bleaching.

Pigment is the colouring your skin makes to protect itself. After sun, after a spot or because of hormones, your skin makes too much of it in some places, and you see that as a dark mark or a patchy, dull complexion. That pigment sits below the surface, which is why a cream does so little about it.

With microneedling we bring the Meso Cocktail Whitening+ through fine channels right where the pigment is. The cocktail combines five brightening active ingredients, including stable vitamin C, a whitening peptide and botanical extracts. Together they curb the production of new pigment and even out your complexion.

Your skin doesn't become lighter than it naturally is. The aim is an even complexion: the marks fade, the dullness disappears and your skin gets its own colour back. For pigmentation we often combine microneedling with peels, and sun protection is always part of it. Otherwise you're working against yourself.

Why clients choose this variant.

  • Sun damage

Marks on your forehead, cheeks and cheekbones, often after years of sun without protection. The marks you see fade in winter and come back in summer.

  • Dark marks after spots

Patches that stay behind long after a spot has gone. See also what we write about blemish-prone skin and acne scars.

  • A dull, uneven complexion

No individual marks, but skin that looks sallow as a whole and is never quite even. Vitamin C and the peptide make it brighter. Also read about dull skin.

  • Pigmentation on darker skin tones

The darker your skin, the more easily irritation leaves a new mark. That's why we choose the depth of the treatment carefully and build up gently.

Fifty minutes from cleansing to SPF.

  1. Cleansing and numbing

We cleanse your skin thoroughly and apply a numbing cream, which soaks in for twenty minutes. During the treatment you therefore mainly feel vibration and a slightly scratchy sensation.

  2. Microneedling with the cocktail

Zone by zone we go over your face, with extra attention to the areas with pigment. Meanwhile we apply the brightening cocktail. Your skin turns pink to red, and that's part of it.

  3. Calming and protecting

Finally we apply something calming and a protective layer. If you want LED therapy afterwards, you book it on top for €20.00 and twenty minutes extra.

  4. The recovery and the sun

Your skin is red for one to two days. Make-up is allowed from the third day, but preferably you leave it off for two weeks. With pigmentation, SPF every morning is not advice but a condition, even in winter. Everything about the days after is under microneedling.

What a course costs you in the end.

You do a course of four to six sessions, three to four weeks apart. You pay per session and decide each time yourself whether to continue.

When this variant fits and when we choose something else.

A good idea if

  • You have pigmentation from the sun, from spots or from hormones, and want an even complexion.
  • Your skin looks dull and sallow and you want it brighter, without making it lighter.
  • You're prepared to apply SPF every day, because without it no pigmentation treatment works.

Check with us first

  • A spot that grows, changes colour or has irregular edges. Have your GP look at that first.
  • Just been in the sun or on the sunbed. Then we wait about two weeks.
  • Acids or retinol at home. Stop using them a few days beforehand.
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding. We don't treat hormonal pigmentation yet then; let us know, and we'll discuss.

A mark that changes is one for your GP.

A spot that grows, gets darker, develops irregular edges or itches, you have your GP look at first before we treat it. If you use isotretinoin or another medication for your skin, check with your doctor first whether microneedling is possible.

Frequently asked questions about microneedling for pigmentation

How much does microneedling for pigmentation cost in Enschede?

At Moons, microneedling with the Meso Cocktail Brightning costs €89.00 per treatment, and it takes fifty minutes. For a course, count on four to six sessions.

Will my skin get lighter from this treatment?

No. The active ingredients even out your complexion: the marks fade and your skin gets its own colour back. Your skin doesn't become lighter than it naturally is.

Peel or microneedling for pigmentation?

Often both, alternating. A mandelic acid peel loosens the top layer, microneedling brings the brightening ingredients deeper. Which rhythm suits your skin, we decide at your first skin appointment.

Will the marks come back?

That mainly depends on the sun. Without daily sun protection your skin makes new pigment in the same places. With SPF every morning you keep the result. Also read about sun protection.

How long will I be red?

Usually one to two days, roughly like after a day in the sun. So don't plan your appointment just before an important occasion.
