Your bikini line neatly tidied, carefully and discreetly.

In brief

  • We tidy your bikini line neatly with wax: the hairs that fall outside your bikini bottoms. That takes twenty minutes and costs €18.50.
  • We do the waxing carefully and discreetly.
  • Your hair needs to be at least five millimetres long, so do not shave for the last ten to fourteen days.
  • Against ingrown hairs, light scrubbing twice a week and skin that stays supple both help.

What the bikini line actually is.

By the bikini line we mean the hairs that fall outside your bikini bottoms or knickers, along the edges at your groin. We tidy those neatly with wax, so the line is sharp and smooth, in a bikini or swimsuit too. Your upper legs run up to your groin and meet it exactly there, and with your underarms added you are ready for summer in one appointment.

Whether you call it bikini line waxing, a bikini wax or a tidy-up: at Moons it is about that line. The wax pulls the hair out root and all, and that is why you stay smooth for three to four weeks. After shaving you often soon feel stubble here, and it can chafe against your underwear.

Many people find the first time nerve-racking, and we understand that. We do the waxing carefully and discreetly. Beforehand we tell you what is going to happen, and along the way we say what you can expect.

The first time calmly prepared.

A few small things beforehand make your first appointment a lot more comfortable.

  • Let the hair grow

The hair needs to be at least five millimetres long, so do not shave for the last ten to fourteen days. That may feel less tidy, but the wax cannot grip short hair.

  • Scrub the day before

Scrub lightly and come with clean skin, without thick body lotion or oil. Then the wax grips better and you are less likely to get ingrown hairs.

  • Pick your moment

Around your period, waxing feels more sensitive for many people. If your appointment falls right then, feel free to move it. You can do that up to 24 hours beforehand.

  • Wear something loose

Afterwards you do not want anything tight or chafing. In loose trousers or a dress you are already comfortable on the way home.

Twenty minutes careful and discreet.

The bikini line is one of the more sensitive areas, especially the first time. That is why we work in small sections, so each one takes only seconds.

  1. A quick look

We look at the length of your hairs and at your skin. If there are small wounds, inflamed spots or irritation, we do not wax there.

  2. Cleanse and protect

We cleanse your skin and apply a protective layer. That way the wax only grips the hair.

  3. Waxing along the line

We apply the wax with the direction of growth and remove it against it, a small section at a time. That keeps the line neat.

  4. Tweezers and soothing

Any hairs left behind we remove with tweezers. Then soothing care goes on against redness and bumps, and you get the aftercare for the first few days to take home.

Clean and airy in the days after.

After waxing, your skin is briefly open and warm. In this area friction and heat come on top of that, so take it easy the first day.

  1. Straight after

    Some redness is normal

Your skin may be a little red and feel warm, sometimes with red dots where the hairs were. After a few hours that is usually gone again.

  2. First 24 hours

    Keep it airy

Wear clean, airy underwear, preferably cotton, and nothing tight. Skip the sauna, swimming pool, sunbed and exercise, because heat and sweat cause bumps more quickly on freshly waxed skin.

  3. Days 3 to 4

    Start scrubbing

From now on, scrub lightly twice a week, especially along the edges of your underwear, where fabric rubs. Then keep your skin supple with a body lotion.

  4. Weeks 2 to 4

    No shaving in between

The hairs come back in phases. Do not shave in between, because that is exactly what causes ingrown hairs. After about four weeks it is time for the next appointment, and then you can have other areas waxed as well.

Ingrown hairs along your bikini line.

An ingrown hair grows back under your skin instead of through it. Along your bikini line you see them more often than elsewhere, because the hair there is curlier and your underwear rubs.

  • Light scrubbing helps the most

Scrub lightly twice a week and keep your skin supple. Then a new hair comes through more easily.

  • Shaving actually gives you more of them

A cut hair curls back into the skin more easily. So not shaving in between makes a difference too.

  • Squeezing makes it worse

If you squeeze an ingrown hair, an inflammation goes deeper. That can leave a dark mark, because that is another way pigmentation develops. Keep scrubbing lightly, and the hair often comes to the surface by itself.

An inflamed hair belongs with your GP.

If an ingrown hair turns red, warm and painful, contains pus or the bump gets bigger, see your GP about it. The same goes for spots or bumps along your bikini line that you cannot place. We do not wax over small wounds, eczema or an inflammation. Once it has healed, we can again.

Frequently asked questions about bikini line waxing

What does bikini line waxing cost in Enschede?

At Moons the bikini line costs €18.50 and takes twenty minutes. Online you only reserve your slot, and you pay afterwards in the salon.

Does bikini line waxing hurt?

It is one of the more sensitive areas, especially the first time. Because we work in small sections, it is only ever a few seconds at a time. The hair grows back thinner afterwards, and then the following times are clearly easier.

How long does my bikini line stay smooth?

Three to four weeks, depending on how fast your hair grows. With an appointment about every four weeks the line stays neat and the hair often grows back finer.

How long does the hair need to be for the bikini line?

At least five millimetres, so usually ten to fourteen days after your last shave. Do not shave just before either, because then the wax cannot grip the hair.

When is the best time to book my bikini line?

Preferably outside your period, because many people notice that waxing feels more sensitive then. If you are going on holiday, book your appointment at least a day before you go swimming.

What can I do about ingrown hairs along my bikini line?

Start scrubbing lightly a few days after your appointment, twice a week, and apply a body lotion afterwards. Do not shave in between and do not squeeze an ingrown hair. If it turns red, warm or painful, see your GP.

Can men have their body waxed with you?

No, we only do body waxing for women. For the facial areas everyone is welcome.
